Stay Cool This Summer

There are lots of ways to get prepared for summer, but we tend to focus on the health of your air conditioning system. These HVAC workhorses are key to staying comfortable on the high heat days of summer so now’s the time to get ready!

Manage Your Thermostat:

Start cooling your home before a heat wave starts. Set your thermostat to a reasonable temperature (74 degrees) and keep it consistent throughout the day.

Check Your Air Filter:

For central AC units, we recommend changing your air filter every 60-90 days with a filter rated MERV 10 or higher. For window units, follow the same schedule for cleaning the filter. Air filters can easily get clogged, reducing your system’s efficiency to keep your home cool.

Keep your air condenser clean:

The outdoor condenser unit for your central AC needs ample space for airflow. Any objects or yard debris blocking airflow will make your AC system work harder and less efficiently.

Get your AC inspected:

With our AC Service Plan, our technicians inspect, clean and test your system. They’ll also identify if your AC system is on its last legs or impacted by the EPA’s ban on Freon/R-22. And don’t forget, inefficient older units can cost you more in the long run than replacing it for a new model.

Should you have any questions about the state of your AC System or to schedule an appointment with one of our technicians or comfort specialists, please call 203.367.7064.
